Let's compare the current interests of the neocons to totalitarianism. Wire tap, use news-speak, try to create a nation state, restrict the rights of citizens, push more and more for surveillance over our personal lives, ad infinitum. I would say that HOW these policies are executed are of more relevance than WHAT they are. If you have an army knocking on your door checking if you have guns, that's very different than a debate and conclusion about restrictions on automatic guns--which I oppose

I would also like to quickly add that public education served a very different purpose in Nazi Germany than here in the states. In Nazi Germany it was to brainwash its desperate citizens. In the US it was founded a few things; it was a form of daycare so dad could make money, and to keep misbehaved eastern immigrant children in one spot, appxly true. But also on the idea that people deserve a public education, that they can have the same opportunities given to them-thx to Ben Franklin I think

You are incorrect that neocons try to restrict the rights of a citizen, even though I am not a neocon I will defend them. The idea that neocons restrict rights is brought about by a group of people who try and give rights to people that do not exist. Such as a right to privacy from the government. The very application of a progressive income tax either disproves such a right or shows hypocrisy in the law, since I cant hide how much money I make from the government.

Their has also been a push towards other "rights" that do not exist, such as right to health care, but that's another topic for another day. It could be said that the liberal democrats also restrict rights, such as the right to not have your brain sucked out as a child. Also if we compare who supports a larger form of government then the Liberal Democrats still fall closer to totalitarians than neocons.

As already stated, liberals tend to try and inject government into plenty more private matters than neocons, such as the right to say wither or not you can allow smoking to take place in your restaurant, or the right to say if your radio program can biased. To get to public education, I believe that your incorrect in your assumption that public education does not brainwash. Go into any college and you'll see what I mean. They also teach false history, such as the story of Thanksgiving.

Well I couldn't go to any college to demonstrate the faults of public education, since some institutions are private. That aside, I am referring to K-12. And if education systems are really so capable of brainwashing, then I think we need to question parents' ability to raise a child and how easily a human being becomes complacent in such (remotely, at least) comfy situations.

Healthcare isn't a right, agreed."Such as the right to not have your brain sucked out as a child." That hasn't happened. Ever. No child has ever had their brain sucked out. As far as Liberals being closer-the ability to invade your privacy is much more akin to totalitarian governments. Privacy rights derive from the 4th Amendment, which prohibits unreasonable search+seizure. Prohibiting the government from searching your house w/o a warrant, tapping your calls, or keeping you under surveillance.
